My boards are done!
And finished in about a tenth of the time it usually takes me to do them. Just getting them printed and my sketchbook to finish up and then hand in on Friday.
Can’t believe first project is in already..
A sneak peek at my final products..
I tried taking my photo’s at home on my own (due to trains being a pain in my ass yesterday and missing the photography induction.. twice!)
Clearly that AS level I have in Photography really isn’t that useful.. as they came out pure and utter crap.
So, I’ve been invited to the photography studio tomorrow and hopefully I can get some decent photo’s taken to make my products look miles better than they are.. Here’s hoping!
Seeing as I’ve had a complete nightmare with trains today, I’ve decided to re-do my Beef Chilli can label as a windy cycle path instead of a ramp.
I prefer this to the ramp, I feel the colours sit better with the other two cans and nicer shapes are created within it.
Seeing as I’ve missed both the photography lessons I’ve now got no camera to take proper photo’s of my cans. Bad times.
Thankfully, I’m in uni tomorrow for a dissertation tutorial so I can hopefully rent a camera then. Good times!
I’ve not blogged ALL weekend. I know, it’s awful
So, here is a post.
These are my cans. Printed on super duper expensive paper.
Which I put into my printer the wrong way.. twice!! So that’s two sheets gone..
Hopefully I can get my camera to work tonight so I can take some proper photo’s..
Quick mocks up of my mugs.. I know, they look naff, but I’ve been trying to find a set of stackable mugs that I can use for a base without much luck so..
The mugs can be switched about from day/night to surf/climb.
I’m nearly done I think with my howies brief. Just see what everyone else thinks tomorrow..
I’ve actually done 6 t-shirts because they are fairly simple and there’s no harm in doing more than required.. right?
Not really any difference between mens/womens/childrens so they are pretty much unisex/ageless.
Some I prefer more than others, but never mind.
Just the mugs to do now!
Re-done the chilli label, the bike definately works better.. but I’m unsure about the text as it’s a bit hard to read due to too much colour on the back, but shall have to see what Tash & co think on Thuursday.
Tomorrow I have to go and buy some chocolate bars so I can look at sizing for the ones I’m going to design.
After a whole lot of print outs, trials and errors.. I think I’ve finally got them!
I’ve decided to not put all the nutritional info on the labels, but have a link to the website as that’s where they will sell originally anyways, so the information will be there when you buy it.
Still a bit iffy on the skate ramp one.. might have a go at a simpler bike image and ask the masses what they think.
Got my t-shirts to mock up and chocolate/mugs to mock up tomorrow. Lots to do but I’ve got the motivation now to do it so it should be easy peasy!
Trying different colour combo’s..
Been using Kuler.
It annoys me how different the colours look on screen to printed. But I think they look better now I’ve changed some colours.
Having difficulty with the tea/moon one though, due to it being so dark. The text is a bit washed out on some once printed.. But I’ll stick at it!
And them on the cans.. which I wasn’t sure if they’ll be on cans or more rectangular type tins? I don’t know
I promise, I’m nearly finished blogging!
The images above are my labels for the tea and coffee. The tea is a little dark still but I can easily change that. I’m fairly pleased with them, I just hope that there won’t be much tweaking to be done once I show them to Tash
And the labels on the cans..
Some of the prints are better than others, due to me not setting up my printer properly, but I prefer the matt finish to glossy.
I actually got the lining up of the ends pretty well so they do look like a seamless image once applied on the cans - was pretty pleased with that!
My 3 can labels so far..
I need to figure out what to do with the nutritional info on the back, which is what the white rectangle is for. But so far, I think it’s looking okay.
The texture in the sky is miles better than the plain colour, and the one wave/wheel/mountain peak are so much better as focal points. I need to look at the colours for the text, as I think some of them seem a bit washed out, such as the white howies logo.
But in terms of style, I think I’m getting there.
Been trying to figure out how my focal point will look on cans, and where to put the nutritional info in context to that.
